If you know like we know, you don't wanna step to this. It's the G-funk era, funked out with a garage twist.

Inspired by one of our favorite styles of hip-hop, we paired the hypnotic grooves of Syrah with the booming bassline of Petite Sirah, and a few other samples, to create a red wine that is ready to regulate. Mount up.

Our journey begins down on the central coast, where we (in a Nate Dogg voice) hit the west side of the S-L-O, on a mission trying to find some cool new vineyards. And let's just say, we hit the jackpot. Situated on the Pacific Ocean, the San Luis Obispo Coast region enjoys a cool maritime climate and diverse soils that produce wines with rich flavors and deep complexity. 

There we found a number of grapes that thrive, including Syrah, Petite Sirah, and Grenache. These varieties form the dark juicy core of this blend. But it couldn't just be any geek off the street, we needed to funk it up, if you know what we mean. That's where we brought in the zest, intensity, and acidity of Négrette, Zinfandel, Mourvèdre, and Viognier to make this a groovy melody.

And it's damn good too. In the glass, it's got the dark purple paint coat of a '64 Impala. Poke your head in and soak up a complex and mouthwatering array of dark fruit aromas, accented by hints of red licorice and violets. Once it drops in your mouth, your tongue will be delighted by a rhythmic wave of raspberries followed by deeper flavors of blackberry and black cherry, with notes of cola, black pepper, and leather. The wine features a lush, velvety texture and a lingering finish. Basically, the rhythm is the bass and the bass is the treble.

We found too many parallels with G-Funk music not to make this wine an homage to the genre. Born out of Southern California, G-Funk paired groovy samples from '70s funk and R&B music with harder-hitting basslines and lyrics from '90s gangster rap. Artists like Warren G, Nate Dogg, and Dr. Dre defined the smooth, harmonic sound, that like our blend here, just get better with age.
